Matthias Vandamme

Matthias has been a member of the Antwerp Bar since September 2020. Matthias joined Claeys & Engels in September 2023, where he focuses on data protection and privacy law in general. In this area, Matthias specialises in both advice and litigation.

In recent years, Matthias has written numerous blogs on data protection law and is also co-author of the book “Privacy & Persoonsgegevens: De cookieregelgeving voor overheden en bedrijven” (Privacy & Personal Data: Cookie Regulation for Governments and Companies) with the publisher Politeia.

In July 2020, Matthias received his Master's degree in Law with distinction from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). During his studies, Matthias completed several internships at niche law firms in Brussels and Mechelen, specialising in data protection, intellectual property and technology law. After his studies, Matthias worked for three years in one of these niche firms, where he further deepened his knowledge of data protection and privacy law. In 2023, Matthias also successfully completed a course to become a Data Protection Officer (DPO).
