Dear reader,
While the European Union continues to strengthen its sustainability policy, our country has lagged behind in transposing Directive 2022/2464 of 14 December 2022, known as the “Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive” or “CSRD”, which should have been implemented by 6 July 2024.
Belgium, however, caught up with a law dated 2 December 2024, published at the last minute on 30 December 2024, aimed at transposing the CSRD directive.
In this newsletter, we discuss the new obligations imposed on companies regarding sustainability reporting, while highlighting certain particularities of Belgian law and points of attention for human resources professionals.
